Garth Meyer

From the Green Mansions Collection Photographer Garth Meyer was born in Southern Africa and grew-up in Zimbabwe. He studied in Africa, Philippines, Korea, Canada and Europe. After 15 Years of international still photography he completed a higher education diploma in directing the narrative and documentary. Garth uses a rare 11 X 14 inch camera which is the first camera of its size to capture African landscapes. The large format camera uses 11 X 14 inch film to capture incredible detail. Garth won the Apollo Film Festival for the Best South African Short Film and the film Quamta (Representing Africa at Resfest International) received seven nominations including best short film, director, cinematography, art direction, editing, sound and original music.

His latest film, "Mara - Bitter water" was in many ways a coup in the Southern African art scene. As with most brilliant artists their work will never be mainstream enough to enjoy the viewership it deserves, but none the less it will be screened at all the most prominent film festivals around the world, and will surely be accredited with award upon award. It will be screened at the KKnK Film Festival in Oudshorn as well as the Apollo Fillm Festival later this year.

We salute Garth Meyer for always sticking to his vision and never selling out.
